After his successful career in the professional wrestling business, DJ Z has now turned his attention to music production. One of his current projects is to remix the theme songs of classic wrestling shows. Pittsburgh hip hop artist Yury is lending his voice to the project. The first finished product will be released online at the end of May and will be followed by others in the coming months. His contract with Impact Wrestling, a joint venture of CBS Corp and Lionsgate, will expire in July.

While establishing himself as a renowned DJ and producer, Z-Trip has also released several critically acclaimed albums. His 2005 major label debut, Shifting Gears, garnered four stars from Rolling Stone and featured guest artists such as Chester Bennington of Linkin Park and Chuck D of Public Enemy. His music has also been featured on numerous video games, including the popular game DJ Hero. His music is a popular choice for fans of electronic dance music.

He has remixed hits by Nirvana, The Jackson 5, and Dead Weather. In addition, he has collaborated with Lee Scratch Perry on a cover version of a Bob Marley song, and with Brillz on a remix of a Jay Z hit. In 2013, Z-Trip performed on the Grammys with LL Cool J and Chuck D. He has also appeared on shows like Jimmy Kimmel Live and Jimmy Fallon.
